Miscellany Monday

Misc. Monday

After a VERY long day at work yesterday, coughing almost all day and just miserable, I was SOOooo glad to come home and watch my DVR'd Oscar show.   What was so very exciting?
Mr. Darcy wining Best Actor!!!

The BBC miniseries, "Pride and Prejudice" is a running favorite in our house,  being played over and over!!
I have been a "Colin Firth" fan for years, first seeing him in "Valmont" in which he is a naughty boy, trying to seduce several women in the French countryside.  oolaalaa.   And of course, who couldn't love that goofy reindeer sweater in "Bridget Jones?"  One should receive an Oscar for having to sport a sweater like that!!!

I was digging around my old VHS tapes and found two of his other "older" films in my stash.  "My Life So Far", a very fun and charming film, and "The Advocate", a very provocative film.   Both very good.

Hope you all are having a great Monday!!!

What I'm loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday.   This week is going by fast and we are a bunch of sickies today.  Kya and I are at home, hanging with the dogs and participating with Jamie for What I'm loving Wednesday!   Hope everyone is having good health today.

I am loving that one of my fav's "America's Next Top Model" is back on tonight for a new season.    Love Tyra!   I have been watching since season 1 and have never missed a show.    I am also loving that the premier of "Shedding for the wedding" will follow Tyra.

I am loving that I will get to meet my son's birthfather this year.   I am so excited!  I have talked to him on the phone a couple of times and he seems like such a nice guy, friendly and talkative.

We knew nothing about him at the time of the adoption, not even a name.   They reconnected a few years later and then ended up marrying.   Very cool!

I am loving this cute baby charm bracelet.  This would be nice to give as a baby shower gift, maybe changing the crystal colors to the baby's birthstone colors.    Very nice!  I love charm bracelets because they feel so luxurious and full of sparkle!

This one can be found here.

Happy Birthday, Grandpa Tom!!!

A big Happy Birthday to Grandpa Tom (my dad) today.   We wish him all the best!!!

Warm weather and fevers

We some how managed to make it through cold and flu season with barely a sniffle.   But my little one, Kya, woke up last night screaming that she had to pee and she looked so horrible.  That sunken eye, watery look.   She wanted some milk but couldn't even hold the cup, her hands were shaking so bad.

Her hands were hot, which was strange.   Poor little thing!
Now that it's hot and sunny, the illnesses start.   So not good!!

I know, ick!!!

FIVE QUESTION FRIDAY

I thought I would participate in "5 Question Friday, hosted by MamaM @ My little life.   I love reading all the other answers and finding out more about my fellow bloggers!

{1} Have you worn the same outfit more than once in a row?
No, not my regular wardrobe.   I have however wore the same pair of hospital scrubs after removing them.   I sometimes get called back in after a long day at work and have to put on those same, stinky scrubs.   I only have one set.

{2} If you had to choose one LARGE city to live in, which would it be?

I love history, old buildings so I would probably choose someplace like Boston.   Maybe DC.

{3} Fly or drive with the kids on vacation?
I would rather just click my heels and be at my destination.

But seriously, we have done both with our children and they have done pretty well.   Flying gives me a bit of anxiety as does my husbands driving.   Ask me again after we drive to Disney World this spring!!

{4} What is your idea of "spring cleaning"
I am a BIG spring cleaner.   I take everything out of every closet and cabinet and dump tons of stuff.  I do a "room a day" thing and just remove every item, vacuum places that have been neglected, replace old items, knobs, re-paint if necessary.    I know, scary!!!

{5} What is the best book you have ever read?
I have to agree with Mama M in that I read a lot of books that I really love, but then can't remember them all.    This one in particular had me totally engrossed.   I always recommend this book.   It's called "Gideon" By Russell Andrews.

I just could't put this one down!!!!

WHAT I'M LOVING WEDNESDAY

Linkin' up with Jamie today for WILW today.  Check her out as she has the cutest dresses on her post!

                    Happy Wednesday!!!

I am loving that my wonderful husband secretly booked a Disney trip for Mother's Day.   What a sweetie!!  He knows this is my favorite place, ever.   Growing up 40 minutes from Disneyland in CA, Mickey was a big part of my childhood.  JOhn isn't big on traveling.   You spend all this money and having nothing to show for it in the end.

Well, for me, it's a break from piles of laundry, cooking, the homework stress-outs, etc.    It's seeing the excitement on the kids faces, giving them a bit of "MAGIC" to their ordinary day.
Our last trip was in 2007.   Kya looks so tiny.   This time around, no diapers, no bottles!!!   So excited.

Where else can you.....

See a big, blue, magical castle?

Meet all your favorite characters.......

Darian is in love!!!!

She looks like she wants to smack Stitch.

Slide down a great big tongue......
Or a giant roll of film.

Visit Morocco......
or Canada.....

without leaving the US.

Visit a bunch of beautiful, luxurious resorts, all within the same day.

Hang out in a diaper changing station in full "mouse" gear.

and eat off of a Mickey ear plate.
Coral Reef restaurant

I am loving that Brad from "The Bachelor" finally eliminated Michelle!!!   She was starting to scare me.
This show has been on for many years.  You would think these ladies would know that aggressive, cry baby, obnoxious and bashing other contestants rarely gets the guy!!!   I like Shawntel.  Seems like a nice girl.
                 Have a great week!!!!!

Show us your life: Beauty tips

Kelly @ Kelly's Korner is featuring Beauty secrets/tips on "Show us your life" today.
I am by no means an expert on anything "beauty".  I have always been a bit critical of the way I look and sometimes self conscious.  I go through phases of getting all prettied up before I leave the house and other times just rolling out of bed and leaving.   These are just some basic tips to keep the "ickies" away.

                   {1} Choose the right products

Using the wrong colors and product type can make us all look a bit "clownish".  I love mineral makeup.  It looks natural and doesn't give me that "pore-clogged" look.   ID Bare minerals has great tones and the blushes look very natural.

This gel(above) is great for smoothing out skin tone and reducing pores and redness.   It can be dabbed on skin w/o makeup if you need to run out the door quickly.

A lash curler is a must for us hooded lid people.  Sometimes that and a good mascara that doesn't flake all over the place is all I have time to use in the morning!!!
**just added this---I have been using this eye stick by Benefit since the summer and it is awesome!!  Using a pink highlighter around tear ducts has been recommended by makeup artists for a while now.  It gives that "well rested look" when you have been awake all night.  Really works.

                                {2} Smile
Scowling and frowning is not pretty!   Being a nice, friendly person is always beautiful.

                        {3} Get plenty of sleep
This is always easier said than done!   Especially  parents of newborns and insomniacs.  If I don't get 8 hours of sleep I look 10 years older!

{4} Keep up with haircuts and highlights(if you do them)
When I let too much time go between haircuts and having my hair colored, I have what I call the "mousy momma from the black lagoon" look. I can't always afford the highlights and I am lousy about keeping up haircuts.   For some reason the hair color that grows out of my head is a bit too dark for my complexion so highlights really help!!

My mom used to get annoyed and ask "why did you start coloring your hair, your natural color was so beautiful".  Well, that "childhood" hair sometimes changes, during pregnancy, illnesses, etc.   Through the years we change.
What an attractive look on Darian!

Love this haircolor.  I believe this is Amanda Bynes.   It looks natural without looking too streaky.

{5} Keep your teeth clean and healthy.

See the dentist regularly and do whitenings.  I have seen young people with NO teeth at ALL or rotten, brown funky teeth.

Ok, this is really gross!!!!

{6} Have a professional facial or peel.
When I was fortunate enough to have this service done, my skin looked so nice!   So relaxing and I felt so pampered. Ok, honestly, some of them hurt like the dickins.   Especially the extractions and the peels.   But my pores looked hot!!!  No crusty, splotchy skin here!

Even dogs need some pampering.

                   {7} Wear the right colors.
If I wear black, gray or anything in the dark purple/blue family I look like I have the flu.  It isn't pretty.   Who can't wear black?   That is so not fair!!!

This is usually my "good " color.
Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!!!!

What I'm loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!!    I am linking up with Jamie @This kind of love for WILW.

I am loving all the wonderful people having birthdays this month!   My mom and mother-in-law (they were born on the same day).  My dad and two of my sisters.  They were all born the first two weeks of February.    The thing that is NOT so lovely is that after the  chaos of the holidays, January whips by and I realize,  Oh no, Feb. is here!!!

I am loving this cute t-shirt from Target.   Such a feel of urban cuteness!!!

I am loving that a Pennsylvania couple built a medieval castle for themselves and three children.   It took 4 years and they sent their architect to England to get all the details correct.    This was in our last paper, in the "HOME" section and very cool.

I am loving that my sweetie brought me this yummy piece of cake just now after running a few after dinner errands.   So good with all it's chocolaty, cheesecake goodness!  This is from a local place called SWEET GRASS,  a  Carolina inspired restaurant that opened last year.  They have the best Shrimp Po' boy!!

Thanks for stopping by!
